if you could do a gangnam style one, that would be amazing.

i have very little talent for carving pumpkins, which worked out for me considering my daughter wanted this:

i'm not sure exactly what my son's is supposed to be, but he was happy with it...

first draft.

admittedly, i'm not very good at sketching out. at least it's recognizable!

My question is where do you find pumpkins good for that kind of carving? Most of the ones I've run into have sidewalls to thin to go into that kind of detail. And what are people using for lighting now? Candles don't give anywhere near enough light...some kind of high powered battery operated LED lighting?

candles. 3x of the big ones with a fat wick. haven't tried it yet, but would probably be good to get 3 different heights.

i wrap around the back with shiny side of foil towards the center, to focus all light out the front. i cut a small hole in the back of the pumpkin to allow air in, and a chimney to allow it out.

Interesting...does the foil really help? I wouldn't think the pumpkin absorbs that much light...but maybe. I guess Ill have to go candle shopping, never seen any big enough to put out good light. Don't know where to even go candle shopping though...kind of a weird item.

So do you still slice the top off to get into it, or do you take the bottom out or something else?

What's wrong with you? Why would you make anything related to Pedobear in real life?

Keep that shit online. Same with Guy Fawkes masks. Not funny.

slice the top off.

dunno if the foil helps, but it can't hurt...

basic cut lines. i need to clean up the shirt obviously. i'm beginning to think i might do 2 pumpkins. one for the arms crossed at waist pose, and the one above.

label the arms crossed "step 1"
the above "step 2"

I like it. Better than the options in the OP.

How do you set your pumpkins up? If they're anywhere close to a wall you can try and carve the words "gangnam style" in reverse in the back and try to create a projection on the wall behind it.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pumpkin_projection.jpg

If you aim for the top of the pumpkin the projection should be above it, which IMO would be solid with the main carving facing front.
