I loved the Batman Animated Series you're going to watch. Prob my fav cartoon of all time.

Ever watch "The Real Ghostbusters"? That was a good one too.

Damn thanks for reminding me of that. Yeah when it was first airing I loved to catch when it was on. I think at the time it was part of the early after-school lineup, like right at 3:30pm or so, so I rarely got home in time to catch it 🙁 Will have to take a look at TVTorrents to see if they have it.

As for batman. Not sure if you caught my post but I recently posted about watching the 2 parter "Feat of Clay" (the episode that introduces Clay Face). Clay Faces "death" stands in out in my mind as one of the Epic moments in modern animated story telling.

Full Metal Alchemist has one of the greatest stories I've ever seen. Brotherhood, the second one where they use the same characters but put them in a different story, has the best by far.

Adventure Time from Cartoon Network is also great. It certainly has innuendos, like Rocko's.

Avatar from Nickelodeon also has a very epic storyline. The very last episode may feel a bit rushed, but they still did it well. Because it ended a couple of years ago, you may have to rent the dvd.

Thanks. FMA is on my long list of anime that I've yet to see, along with Bleach Avatar, and others.

I know I've seen that one, but I don't recall the death scene... just how he became Clay Face.

I did actually find Aqua Teen Hunger Force very amusing. I have not watched them all, but some of them were hilarious.

I don't know maybe I'm getting too old 🙁 ATHF for the most part just makes me star at the screen with a big W.T.F face and occasionally laughing here and there. I'll have to try it out some time again though.

This thread makes me wanna catch up on some animes again, although I'm going to be busy for a while watching X-Files, Buffy & Angel & whatever else NF wants to continue making available. Heh.

you said you watched Justice League. There's also a sequel series called Justice League Unlimited. I can't think of other really good quality American animation besides this. On a side note, if you particularly favor superhero series, also try watching X-Men TAS and Evolution, as well as Static Shock and Batman Beyond. After watching all of this I recommend anime. Some of it also is really good though the recent seasons not so much.

I support the destruction of aqua teen.

But Ill agree with most of the others though.
Aqua teen is just so stupid most of the time.

Buffy and Angles are worth watching up till their last season. Both sort of jump the shark during their last season but for the sake of completion you still have to watch them. X-Files I think is only worth watching for like, what, the first 6 or 7 seasons?

Ren and Stimpy, haha

So you watched all of JLA (S1-2-3) and JLU (S1-2)? That was probably the pinnacle of American cartoons, so freakin' good...

Try X-Men: TAS, TMNT (the original), Tiny Toons, I dunno...

The Avatar: Last Airbender is worth buying and recommending. I am 30 and enjoy this cartoon.
🙂

in no particular order:

Darkwing Duck
Teen Titans
Sonic the Hedgehog (not adventures of sonic the hedgehog)
Venture Brothers
Animaniacs
powerpuff girls
Dexter's Lab (there are some real good ones in there)
Batman (the new one running on comedy central now)
Invader Zim

Is there even any decent mature western animation? Most I've seen named were targeted towards adolescents, or adult/juvenile humor. But nothing that's as complex or in-depth as the anime counterparts' can become. The few that I have watched were rather mediocre.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oz4QRB25DSI Luurrrrrrrrrrrrved Jem..
Denver the last Dinosaur
Samurai Pizza Cats
Captain Planet
Sailor Moon

The above were my faves growing up🙂

Don't think I'll be watching Jem Girls any time soon 😉 I remember Samurai Pizza Cats fondly though. Interesting when I posted that huge list of cartoon intros no one seemed to recognize SPC, wonder if it never aired in the US? Captain Planet of course! :awe: And Sailor Moon though I never watched much of it was a lot better than people give it credit for. Course you couldn't be caught dead as a teenage guy watching that unless you wanted to be bullied to death.

The Simpsons
Duck Tales
Looney Tunes

It's going to take a few more years before I can go back to watching the good years of the Simmons, pre season 7 or so. Everything since then has left a sour taste in my mouth for that show. Still love family guy though.

Anything from 1945 and earlier. Betty Boop is a favorite of mine, especially the pre code cartoons. Propaganda cartoons of WWII are great, as are the generic cartoons that don't feature recurring characters, but spotlight (then)current pop culture.

Here's a couple of my favorite Betty Boops...

😕 That was the whole point of Betty Boop. The 20s and 30s were a far more open and liberal time than the 40s and 50s that followed. Doesn't everyone know about "the roaring 20s"?
