This happened a few hours ago now, but didn't see any threads on it...

The Raiders gave up TWO 1st round picks for him... 1 2012 and 1 in 2013 (conditional on the Raiders winning a playoff game, otherwise it's a 2nd rounder)

Holy crap! That's a kings ransom! The Raiders now have given up their draft picks for rds 1-4 next year! Talk about mortgaging your future... but on the other hand I understand that if they don't do the deal, they basically give up on their 4-2 strong start.

As a Redskins fan I feel kinda sorry for Jason Campbell as he'll have to hit the road AGAIN... and as a Fantasy football player... I need to decide if he's worth picking up.

Crazy trade! What do you guys think?

We think this week's NFL thread has already been laughing at the Raiders for the past hour or so.

The Raiders are one of the few teams dumber than the Denver Broncos the last several years.

They have absolutely zero chance of getting anywhere in the playoffs, much less making the super bowl. This is just another stupid decision in a string of stupid decisions.

But at least they can make it!

I'm not even convinced they'll make it, we'll see. Chargers already beat them once and there is no reason to think they won't win the division again this year.

Raiders were hot last year at times too, went 6-0 in the division - the first team in history to go undefeated within the division and not make the playoffs.

I dont get why there is all the hate on the raiders. They have been a decent team this year. This could definitely help them if they make the playoffs. They spent a lot to get him but then again the QB is the most important position out there on the field.

Unless I am not understanding you, you are wrong. The Raiders haven't played the Chargers. And I would take Palmer over Tebow and the horrible Donkey organization any day.

The Packers traded Favre to the Jets for a conditional fourth round pick. I can't se Palmer being worth much more than that really... maybe a third or a garbage sixth round pick added to the mix, but certainly not a first and second or two firsts. Wow.

I was mistaken, thought they had played for some reason.

Regardless, I would take Tebow and our horrible organization over the Raiders. They just set themselves up to fail for the next couple years which is fine by me. Out of all the stupid things the Broncos have done, none of them were nearly this stupid. At least we didn't get robbed on all of the dumb trades we made.

How fast will Palmer adjust to the new system? Seriously, what a risky move for a chance that they might bolster their offense this season.

As a Chargers fan, I hope it backfires tremendously.

The Bears got slaughtered in the media for trading 2 first rounders for a 25 year old pro bowl QB.

The Raiders need to get absolutely demolished for this.

It's a shame that the bungles were too pigheaded to do this earlier. Palmer's a guy who I feel never got fair shake in the NFL. He could have been a top five guy until his knee blew in that playoff game. He's had nothing but hard to work with prima donna receivers and one of the most consistenly bad front offices in sports.
If the Colts or Vikings could have gotten him in August, their seasons could be looking a lot different now.

Some of my friends who are diehard Raiders fans love this deal. They do admit that it could be giving a lot though...

Everything about this deal makes sense except the second possible first round pick.

Raider fans are rarely critical of their team. They have defended everything, Darius Heyward-Bey - seriously? You're seriously going to defend that draft pick?

Raider fans are a personification of the team to a "T"

Haha, you're right. Then they call people who question their decisions haters.

Of course you would, the Raiders would take anyone. Just look at their QBs over the last few years:

2011 Jason Campbell (5) /
2010 Jason Campbell (12) / Bruce Gradkowski (4)
2009 JaMarcus Russell (9) / Bruce Gradkowski (4) / Charlie Frye (3)
2008 JaMarcus Russell (15) / Andrew Walter (1)
2007 Josh McCown (9) / Daunte Culpepper (6) / JaMarcus Russell (1)
2006 Andrew Walter (8) / Aaron Brooks (8)
2005 Kerry Collins (15) / Marques Tuiasosopo (1)
2004 Kerry Collins (13) / Rich Gannon (3)

The rest of the team is garbage too aside from DMC. The Raiders have been a joke for years. At least the Broncos woes can be attributed to one guy......Josh McDaniels. And hes gone now.

The broncos traded cutler for orton. That was as retarded as a raiders move.
