Cars that warrant waves from other owners?

The S2000 is a car where most owners wave to each other as they pass by, even across freeways. I've also experienced this driving or riding in other people's old Jeeps. And of course motorcyclists are the kings (and queens, pardon the pun) of this.

What are some other cars that warrant "the" wave?

There are some cars where you might expect it, like the Miata, but I've never seen it, maybe because so many non-enthusiast drivers bought them along with the enthusiasts? And it seems like the drivers of German or Italian cars are too "cool" to acknowledge each other (but feel free to correct me!).

When I drive my older jeep I get waved at all the time. I've even had people talk to me about it at stop lights. Not having doors makes it much easier to have a conversation.

I had one of the massive '77 El Caminos, black of course, and got waves and thumbs up from lots of people.

I never understood the concept unless you had a really rare car. An S2000 is about as common as they come and same with a Z.

I get waves from half the other miatas I see. Most of the half that don't just don't see me. Jeep people more so with the CJs use to to do it and I assume still do.

Kenstate I guess you live in a sports car area. I see maybe 1 or 2 other miatas a week and maybe 1 or 2 s2000s a month. The 350z/370z are a bit more common.

Not many S2000's were made compared to 350z

I get it in every car I currently have, plus my old Conquest which I sold a while back. They are all uncommon enough where it's a relatively rare sight to see one on the road, and there is a little bit of kinship between owners as a result.

I usually wave to/get waves from other Supra drivers. They did make a lot of them, but there aren't a lot of MK3s left on the road anymore. They didn't sell many MK4's.

i get waves from other t/a owners we always got waves in the chevelle too.

Sometimes fbody owners wave to each other (Camaro, firebird). Depends on the person and the car. I rarely get a wave back since I'm only in a "beat old v6" though.

Whenever I cruise in my old Bug we get the good ol' classic peace sign. I give it to all old VW's. Newer cars like 350's and S2k's are not rare at all and I don't think deserve it. I do get people in other SRT-4's giving me a wave as well but I never see any other ones.

I would put forth that the Caprice is such a car....however....such waves are often followed by an inquiry as to how much you'd sell your car for. That gets old, fast... 😛
