Cars that have side scoops?

I saw a silver car today that had fairly large side scoops, and at first, I thought it might have been a Carerra GT, but I figured not. What are some other cars that have side scoops around that size?

Not quite as big as these, but close. It was also silver, and around the size of an s2000/etc.

Lol, thats what first came to my mind as well. Large side scoops are usually for engine cooling, so its probably going to be something mid-engined...

A lot of Ferraris had side intakes like that. So did the Lamborghini Miura.

Look in my sig, my VW Bus has massive side scoops, it has to, it's air cooled.

Fiero's also had side scoops. One was a direct feed for the ait intake. There are kits to extend the scoop out to make it more of a ram air setup.

Engine Cooling? I thought side scoops were for brake cooling. I could be wrong though..just makes more sense. Especially since Mustangs have them on their body. even though its just cosmetic, the engine is in the front, and it's rear wheeled drive.

Thought about it for a bit, now i see what you mean by engine cooling. if the engine is in the back, there is no "front grill" to cool the engine. So could there be two reasons for side scoops!?

Well..I can tell from the back end. The back end on the car I saw is NOTHING like the GT. It does look like the MR2 though.
