Cars that go "boom"

I have a question. I don't want opinions or to start a flame war I am just curious. These cars that you can actually feel the bass from when they go by on the freeway. How loud is that inside the car? It doesn't seem like it would actually be that loud, just a lot of bass, not neccasarily a lot of volume.

I was in one of those cars once. The guy maxxed out his subs for me. I think it's painful.

At a certain point, your ears cannot hear any louder sounds. SO, all you get is a thump and sore eardrums.

I'm pretty sure high-end car audio frequently tops 100 db, which is pretty freakin' loud. Not to mention dangerous if you're actually inside the car at the time.

So there is actually volume involved then? I don't know much about frequency stuff and wondered if it was possible to have the thumping bass you can feel without having the volume. The main reason I asked is a car pulled up next to me today with the windows open. I could hear them talking to each other and they seemed to be talking in normal volumes, but you could still feel the bass from their stereo. Kind of weird.

A single 10incher with a reasonable amp should get you 105 without any troubles.
It's the high frequencies that kill your ears, but the low frequencies kill YOU.
140db or over, one is not allowed to be instead a car in competition (at a db drag race)

One of the loudest vehicles, has 64 10inch PPI's in it....The sub wall is 1/2inch steel.
In general, 2 10's will bump good, pair of 15's will shake you good, 4 15's will shake the car beside you...any more and you should be hitting 140db

Most of the time when people have really loud systems like that they probably have stronger hearing than most people too. I can withstand like any level of noise it doesn't really even bother me but at the same level where it doesn't bother me my dad's ears hurt.

A lot of times people have the subs in the trunk so the bass isn't much louder in their car then it is in yours.

What the FUnk? stronger hearing?!!!!!!!!?!?! you mean DEAF.

Thank god I stayed away from the &quot;loud&quot; music genres. I listen to classical, and you need good hearing to be able to pick apart an orchestral/wind ensemble tune.

I do value sound quality though, and I do wish I had better front speakers (wont say what they are )

BTW: I bet a sub on the backseat would sound better than a sub in your trunk...although I've never tested it myself.

Fortunately I don't listen to my music that loud anymore. I value my ears, but it's still nice for show, and fun on the weekends.

i have one of those cars that goes &quot;boom&quot;

....the bass on the inside is louder on the inside then it is on the outside....

i have two 12's w/ a 600w rms amp....its not hard to set off alarms.....its fun too

You don't need more than 4 15's to hit 140+ dbs. You can do that easily with 1-2 10&quot; subs. (Not that cheap Rockford crap, but good quality crap) Most of it depends on your car and amp though. My friend has 2 15&quot; RF's, you can hear them 5 cars away but theres a lot of distortion. (I doubt it hits over 105 though)
