Finding Nemo was incredible. Speaking of which, I think I need to go see the incredibles tonight!

seems kinda

Seeing as how they've never released a movie that wasn't great, I doubt it will suck.

Only problem I have with it, is that it's freakin' nascar looking. I HATE nascar.

Pretty much. "Driving in circles is popular. Let's make a move about it." It'll probably be a fine movie, but the concept itself holds no appeal for me.

BTW, was that the voice of Owen Wilson? He doesn't seem like the type of actor to do a car movie, but what do I know?

I doubt the Nascar style theme thing is the concept for the entire movie, it's probably just a couple of scenes.

Of course I might be wrong, but that's what would make sense to me :)

I just thought of something. Perhaps Pixar is going to release a more mediocre movie (Cars) to get out of the five movie deal with Disney. Then when they are operating themselves entirely they would start producing better movies again?

I thought they split with disney? Or is this their last one?

Damn itunes.... Clicking on SUV and them not letting me alt tab somewhere else while it loads...

Anyway, movie will probably be a lot better based on their track record, but that didn't convince me of anything...

Yeah, that's a good point. It's hard to tell with teaser trailers, anyway. And, knowing Pixar, I'm sure they'll find some way to make this movie appeal to everyone.

The deal is up after Cars regardless. Pixar broke off talks for a new deal with Disney after months of negotiations. It looks like things got a little personal between Eisner and Jobs.

It is a VERY bad move by Disney (Eisner) to let Pixar go to another distributor especially when Disney's own animation division is producing flop after flop.

Pixar was always much better than Disney...I'd love to see Pixar go independent again.

That's why Eisner got his ace handed to him.

Disney closed down their traditional 2D animation studio didn't they?

Without Pixar, what do they have?

They will need to team with a major distributor for many reasons. Who that will be is anyone's guess at this point.

They consolidated and laid off some animators who worked in their Orlando offices.

That would be a lame move on their part -- they'd be trading in their unmarred track record for the freedom (and uncertainty) that goes along with not being tied to Disney.

That is not what is happening. The rights to Cars will belong to Disney under the terms of their existing contract.

Pixar can find a distributor without Disney now.
Also, Disney can buy, hire, and create a studio with the same skills and capabilities as Pixar

The people at Pixar have been VERY important in the success of the company, John Lasseter in particular.
