CARS money not being paid out?

LTC8K6

Lifer
Seems like this is about what you'd expect from a gov't run program, I guess. I hope it's not true, even though car dealers are not a popular group, I'd hate to see them get screwed like this.

http://hotair.com/archives/200...ys-a-liberal-democrat/

"Bear in mind that the Congressman making this public isn?t a member of Republican leadership, isn?t a Republican at all, or even a Blue Dog Democrat. In fact, it?s the same Congressman who convinced the liberal activists at Netroots Nation that he represented their interests better than incumbent Senator Arlen Specter (RD-PA). The Cash for Clunkers program has only paid on 2% of the applications submitted by dealers, while over 80% of those applications have been rejected for petty bureaucratic nonsense:"

Personally, I hope that no money ($0) is ever paid out of the Cash-for-Clunkers program. What a waste of our tax dollars.

Regardless if it was a good idea or not they have to pay this money out. If they don't the dealers are going to be pretty much screwed.

some of the dealers are screwing themselves by pushing deals through that shouldn't be happening.

please post some proof of this happening

A local dealer here in lawrence is making people put down a 4500 deposit that they hold until their cash for clunkers money comes through. Last I heard, they were floating 415k they are waiting on from the cash for clunkers program.

The place I bought mine from said they had done 110(that was a week ago) which would put them in that ballpark as well.

ther dealer is responsible for making sure the paperwork is complete. Would you give 4500 to someone who didn't fill out all the required paperwork?

no way i'd put down a deposit, what if the dealership screws something up? No thanks.

Pretty sure that's against the CARS rules, too. Like the dealer that reportedly told the woman to bring back her new car, since they didn't think the government was going to pay them.

The dealer I spoke with said that yes, they really did have to jump through hoops in order to get the paperwork perfect, in order to get the approvals, but that they had 2 people working full time just on doing that, and making it perfect. They also told me that once they dialed it in, they had no more problems with getting the approvals, so it's not all that difficult, imho.

Honestly, it seems some dealers want the money just off of a promise of "Really, really! We did it all correctly!!" Bottom line, they didn't have to do one deal using the CARS rebate system, but now that they have, they'll reap what they've sown.

And this is the same government that wants to be further involved in our health care system.

yeah, they're terrible. instead, we should give most of the cash for clunkers money to people who are already gluttonously rich, then dole out trivial sums to a small few of those who were promised the money, and tell them they're lucky they live in such a free country, 'cause apparently great britain and canada would've just shot them in the face for their trouble.

keep your crap in the OT or politics forums, i don't want to read it.

Please report that dealer. They are not allowed to require that, or anything like that.

Aw, golly, did you not qualify for the CARS program.

Me neither. I'd find another dealership that didn't ask for it. I am surprised people agreed to that.

lol

If anywhere near 80% of the applications were rejected, then how many cars did the program actually sell?

Can we say it must be around 20% of what we were told, since so many sales aren't actually complete yet?

I'm guessing the sales numbers we were given were based on the applications, as was the request for additional funds...

Do you mean the ones that will be paying for cash for clunkers? I doubt that the poor will be paying the 3 billion.

And apparently the government isn't paying on the ones that are complete, I guess that's what happens when you deal with the devil.

Why would you think they are the source? They link their sources. New to the internet or what?

Who thinks a blog reporting on the news is the source of the news?

I am currently waiting for my dealer to release my new car. The dealer submitted all our information three weeks ago to the day, and he won't release my car till he gets his money. No telling when this will happen.
