Bullshit. That shit needs to be overturned and ruled as unconstitutional for interfering with interstate commerce.

Better yet, why not just mandate that all cars have to be 100% solar by 2010? Let's do this right.

We can make Jules and Fausto happy by just mandating that everyone must use bicycles and ditch the idea of cars and trucks. If you need to haul something you just need more bicycles.

 I rode my motorcycle to work this morning and froze my ass off. Probably would have been warmer on the bicycle actually.

I have a hate-on for crossovers and SUVs that aren't used extensively for the S or the U, just the G (groceries). Can we see some of those die?

Bring back the station wagon!

yeah that is what I have heard (confirmed here.)

I think currently the CAFE laws say that the fleet avg mpg has to be ~30mpg and by 2020 ~35mpg.

Although the CAFE laws have good intention, it really sucks for the sports car market. Hell they already have gas guzzler fees, i'm 100% fine paying those to get a car with more power!

Look up the Ford Flex. Hasn't been out a year and I've seen someone driving a modified one that looked just like an old Woodie Wagon of years past.

Is this close enough?

Nissan will not make a full size pickup anymore, its dead. Mind you they will have a full size truck. But it will be just a Dodge with a Nissan badge.

not if dodge is gone

Dodge needs to die. GM and Ford will live on, and Nissan should go back to something they were good at : making compact and mid-sized trucks.

Nooooes. I hope Dodge gets bought up by GM or Ford. It was the only good section of Chrysler. :(

 Challenger & Viper.

Still too much of a crossover. Needs to be longer, lower, more streamlined, and maybe have a truck style liftgate. Station wagons are much more car-like in thier construction. The Flex is a decent vehicle in its own right, but still retains too much of the SUV personality.

I'd almost call the Mondeo a hatchback. Wagons are longer, like this

The Flex is a little close to being a crossover (in fact, it is marketed as one), but it's about the closest we're going to get to a modern station wagon.

Edit: But then again, I'm a truck man, so I'm biased against cars. :p

For some of us, it never went away.

Still running strong at 270k miles.

Also, while it is tiny, the Honda Fit is a nice little wagon. If you have never been inside one, it might surprise you with the space and practicality. It is a great grocery hauler with an easy to load/unload back deck.

That has nothing to do with the economic downturn. That was because the Titan not selling and didn't have the market penetration they wanted. They made the deal with Dodge when the 09 was on the drawing board and figured that they could gain a ton of sales by offering a better truck without having to tool up to make it.

The RUMORs on the vette is just that. The ZR1 will probably get the axe as GM looses money on each one they sell. The standard vettes make GM money

So they should get rid of segments that sell and others like just to satisfy you?
Buying automibles is not purely about needs, it's about wants. You don't need a radio or power windows or power seats.

If I want to drive a 6,000lb SUV then I will drive a 6,000lb SUV.

Telling people what to buy because you don't like their choice is just retarded.

The seats are terrible. I test drove one and the driver seat felt like 2 pieces of plywood with some fabric on it. I stopped the test drive after less than a mile, it was to painful.

Nice. I have a friend that recently restored an 83 Caprice Estate Wagon. Those are damn nice and extremely comfy. However, they really do stick far out in parking spaces...

You seem to miss the point here. Function > form. I just want to be able to have a vehicle that I and many others haven't seen in quite some time...with functionality that hasn't really been matched since. I did not wish for the death of all SUVs/Crossovers. I just think that they are more trendy than functional for most people and are overhyped as necessities.
