Carrie Fisher suffered a massive heart attack Friday on an airplane ... TMZ has learned.

Our sources say Carrie was on a flight from London to LAX when she went into cardiac arrest. People on board were administering CPR.

We're told the emergency occurred 15 minutes before the plane landed in L.A. A flight attendant asked if there were any medical personnel on board and an EMT who was sitting in the back of the plane came up to first class and administered life-saving measures.

The plane landed just after noon in L.A. and paramedics rushed her to a nearby hospital.

Fisher, who became famous, of course, as Princess Leia from 'Star Wars,' has been on a book tour.

Story developing ...

That sucks. That hard living may be catching up to her, but she's ~60 so it's not that unique..

I hope that's she's OK!

If not, I wonder if they would make her character CGI in the next Star Wars movie. They kinda showed that they can pull it off (briefly, anyway) in Rogue One.

No spoilers please.

Anyways, she already finished filming the next Star Wars movie. Episode VIII is already in post production.

Carrie Fisher's brother says actress is in stable condition

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Carrie Fisher is in stable condition after suffering a medical emergency aboard a flight Friday.

Her brother, Todd Fisher, told The Associated Press that she was "out of emergency" and stabilized at a Los Angeles hospital Friday afternoon. He said he could not discuss any other details about what happened.

The "Star Wars" star suffered medical trouble during a flight from London and was treated by paramedics immediately upon landing in Los Angeles around noon Friday, according to reports citing anonymous sources. Celebrity website TMZ, which first reported the incident, said anonymous sources told them the actress suffered a heart attack.

Fisher's publicists and representatives for her mother, Debbie Reynolds, and her daughter, Billie Lourd, did not immediately return calls from the AP.

she's on a ventilator, though, and with past history, "stable" isn't necessarily positive. 15 minutes without a pulse is bad news. :(

Exactly what I was thinking, Personally I don't have much hope. Have they defibrillators on planes?

No idea, but you'd think so considering you could be stuck over an ocean and have this happen.

Many planes do have defibs, but depending on what caused her heart attack it might not help at all.

Depending on how good the CPR administered was she may have a more positive outlook, but 10-15 minutes without a pulse is never good. :( I hope she pulls through with minimal issues

If her brain was deprived of oxygen very long, she's got some pretty significant brain damage. That she survived so far is impressive.

According to some alleged nurses on the interwebs, people have survived with no major permanent effects despite being "dead" for an hour after waking up a few days later. Catch was that they received CPR for the entire hour.

Latest news I've read suggests that she got about 15 minutes of CPR on the plane and another 15 on the ground before she started breathing again. Reports also saying that a nurse was on board the plane so she should have gotten good quality CPR. Hope she wakes up by tomorrow or Monday okay.
