Carpet stain remover?

Skoorbie and I have some really nasty stains on our carpet (not by us). I have tried Woolite carpet stain remover, Shout, and OxyClean. What else would you recommend for deep-ground old stains? Thanks 🙂

A steam cleaner might be your only choice, since you say you have many stains. You can rent them at most gorcery stores, I believe. 🙂

Spot Shot or something like that. Comes in a blue can with an orange top. Really good stuff. Get that (like $3 a can) and a steamer from the groccery store (most have the Rug Doctor or whatever to rent up front). Works great on rental house carpet.

Steam cleaner should do the trick, but if they're that nasty, they may just fade and not come all the way out.

New carpet AFTER the kids stop spill juice on the rug😀

I'm a little biased in saying this (since I work for a steam cleaner during the summer) but a lot of those cleaners that you rent at the grocery stores are terrible. The shampoo they make you use stay in the carpet so when you want it done right and have a professional do it, they spend 90% of the time getting that cheap ass shampoo out. Just hire a professional to get it done. I believe we charge $.15 a square foot (not 100% sure on that, but it's close) and then whatever for mileage.

If you still want to try to get that stain out on your own, try this.

Get whatever stain remover you want to use and get the stain good and wet. Now get the iron out with some cheap rags you have laying around. Make sure the iron is warm (duh) and get the rags wet with some water. Put the rags on the stain and now try to "iron out" the stain. Don't hold the iron on the carpet too long or you'll burn the carpet even though those rags are between the iron and carpet. You should see the stain transferring from the carpet to the rags if you do it right. This doesn't work 100% of the time, but it's worth a try.

Edit: Also, if this carpet is in your kitchen, dinning area, bar, etc then I'd advise having the guys who clean your carpet Scotchguard it as well.
If you're having them clean a small area and they try to charge you a one-set-price then have them clean a chair or something to get your money's worth. Our minimum price is $45 but we'll do a hallway or bedroom to make sure you get your money's worth.

Stanley Steamer worked really good for me after I had a freak Dale's sauce accident on my new carpet. They would do you whole place for 60 bucks and you just watch! Much better than renting or buying a residential steam cleaner. Look them up in the phone book. They have an office in Riverchase.
