carolans irish cream > baileys irish cream

it's also cheaper!

And unlike homemade this stuff keeps for 2 years!

Now the question: What other brands should I try?

I could never stand those super sweet alcohol. Makes me teeth hurt just thinking about it.

Friend bought me Disarinno (sp?). I almost puked at first sip.

What can you do with Irish cream besides put it in coffee?

ice cream?

use it to replace cream in various cream sauce recipes for added win?

I forget the name, but there are a few coffee-liquors out there that are far cheaper than Kaluah that I prefer. Many of them are way too sweet, though.

Amaretto is too sweet to drink straight. Mix it with vodka next time, it has a nice flavor.

I approve of this message. Carolan's is my favorite Irish cream. I've even tried various brands side-by-side, and hands down preferred Carolan's.

The local Sam's Club has one... can't remember the name off hand, but it is pretty decent.

Do not bother with Emmet's.

I like it on the rocks. It also works well to spike a shake with.

Carolans is the best. There's no point in trying anything else. If you wait till Xmas, other creams will have gift sets so even though they won't be as good, you'll at least get some glasses or something for your expense.

I like Irish cream in coffee, and on ice cream, but I seldom drink it.

I'm a fan of hot cocoa. I don't usually like sweet alcohol, but Carolan's and hot chocolate are an awesome winter combination.

Also, I'd be a little careful about the "it keeps for two years" bit. It'll keep that long if unopened, but I've had an opened bottle taste very bad after six months.

I'll have to try it in hot cocoa. That sounds good

Yeah the bottle won't last more than a month ;) I was reading recipes and most of them don't keep a month :\

Carolan's is great because it is very tasty, and, as mentioned significantly cheaper than Bailey's. Less name recognition I suppose, but it is all I buy when I need to charge up my coffee.

I would have thought you'd make your own Kaluah. It's supposed to be easy. A friend of mine's mother used to do it. I think it took a month though.

I'm totally the opposite - I've tried every mass-produced Irish cream there is, and for my taste none can compare to Bailey's.

Buffalo Trace's Bourbon Cream is surely the best damn cream liqueur on the planet. That stuff is so delicious that it's a crime to do anything with it but drink it by itself.

Thanks I was looking online for that

You're welcome. I looked too, but their site doesn't have it. However, it is there in the store next to the Bailey's (which they also don't show online).

It isn't as good as Carolan's, but it is decent enough.
