This was my first game I ever bought for PC, and probably one of my favorite of all time. I loved the first, along with the splat pack. The fear factory music playing really put you into the game, and damn was it fun running over people and animals!
Part 2 was okay, but wasn't as good as the original.
TDR2000 was a total dissapointment. I was so pumped about the online multiplayer, but that was a total flop in my opinion.
Rumors have always been on forums about another one coming out, but I could only dream. They had the perfect formula for a great game. If they were to just go back and revamp the graphics on the original it would be a popular game.
I still need to find an old PC so I can run DOS and play it again.
Anyone else love this game?

I LOVED this game! I wish they would make another one using a modern engine. It was so much fun and still is.

SUPER ELECTRO BASTARD DEATH RAY!

Also, if you want to play the game on your current PC try downloading a program called DosBox and see how that works for you. I haven't used that program to try and run Carmageddon, but I did find some games for DOS that were released back in early 80s that DosBox was able to run perfectly fine on Vista. I am talking the kind of games which were limited to black and white or a pallet of like 3-5 colors and used nothing beeps for sound. It was pretty incredible lol.

I just played through the TDR one recently. Although it wasn't nearly as good as the earlier ones, it's still pretty damn fun. Maybe we'll see a remake someday.. that would kick ass.

Carmageddon was one of my favorite games EVER ... logged so many hours of 4 player lan games with that game it isn't even funny ....
Carma 2 was really good too, even though not quite the same touch ...
TDR was crap IMO ...

Loved it. Not sure if a remake could ever catch the brilliance it was. That was a different era when Game Makers went to great lengths to be original and take Risks. Nowadays the focus is too much on Safe and that would likely turn a Carmageddon remake into something dull.

Carmageddon :( I remember my little brother and I fought to the death to determine who could play ! Obviously I won ... Good thing he only ended up in a head trauma induced coma and is alive and kicking right now ! :p

But really, that game rocked. A remake isn't going to fly in 99% of the country's, I mean, driving people to death, inpossible, extra points for combo's and groups of people ? Unthinkable !

Amazing game during the golden age of PC gaming...

Hooked on games like TIE Fighter and Jedi Knight, then there was this...

eventually Star Craft rolled around and then Half-Life and StarSiege: Tribes, enough to distract me from getting into Carmageddon's sequels

My God yes, I miss it, it should be remade using the latest Havok capabilities for the best car crashing and demolition action possible. I remember reading a review of it years ago, and the author concluded by saying that the Carmageddon series was the Doom of any games with cars, meaning that it was as much of a brainless action-oriented game as Doom was, you just start it up and have fun without too much thinking, along the lines of Serious Sam, Redneck Rampage and a few others.

I don't know about that. If Rockstar can pull off the games that they do and still turn an incredible profit then I think someone can manage to remake Carmageddon while still maintaining its touch. You just need to push the envelope as much as possible which Rockstar are masters at doing. Not that I think it will actually happen. :(

I agree, I think it could fly and would have people out there complain, but what games doesnt have people complain about it?

The only thing I would worry about, like you mentioned GTA, is it get to much like GTA. The first few of those were cool and fun. Then now, its like "What can we cram into this game to keep people interested". It does the opposite effect on me. I want to know a game's start, and its finish. When there are thousands of little things scattered all around, I get overwhelmed and just want to stick with whats fun... running over people with all the vehicles and running from the po-po.

Carmageddon is one of those games where a lot of the fun lies within its simplicity. In some ways, GTA is similar but no matter what there are always right ways and wrong ways to make a game. That's just a hard fact of the industry.

What an awesome game.

I remember playing one time with friends. One of them had the repeller ray, he repelled me into a light post and my car split in half.
