Seriously though, if you love Cosmos and want a show with exactly the same spirit, you should be watching Through The Wormhole with Morgan Freeman on the Science channel. The eps are available on a few websites. Fantastic series.

That show kind of annoys me because they spend too much time on fringe theories and give poor or way too confusing explanations for them. Wonders of the Universe is much better IMO.

I don't see it like that...I see it as posing multiple points of view. We have different perspectives of the show obviously.

I agree. The Michio Kaku effect. When they spend time on the ideas that are very unlikely, it dilutes the more probable and factual ones.
 
I think it was the episode about the size/edge of the universe that really bugged me. They show all these crazy theories and then at the very end of the episode they basically say "these theories are probably all false and no scientists really agree with them, but we just figured we'd try to blow your mind for the past hour. Fuck you."

Definitely going to get a watch.

I have moments where I find The Universe and Through The Wormhole entertaining and a good watch, and sometimes the scientific presentation is pretty good, but other times it's a little too "vague" and/or not enough time on current/detailed science and too much on awe-inspiring theories that don't necessarily have a whole lot of scientific backing at the moment.

They are great to see what current cosmologists are thinking about, but sometimes it's more enjoyable to see what a majority of the major players agree upon.

Hopefully Cosmos goes that route.

In general, when they are talking the more detailed science, I thoroughly enjoy listening to Tyson and Kaku, as they give a certain energy to the discussion and make it easy to digest - even when dealing with concepts of extraordinary complexity that can be almost impossible to understand if trying to read the scientific journals that discuss the subject. Though I enjoy that route too, or at least, I try to - some things go way over my head.
 
I've always found that perpetual grin on Brian Cox's face to be annoying. And Michio would be awesome, except if you search around it seems that he's stuck on the same half dozen or so topics. We're not even a type 1 civilization yet, etc. But still, I enjoy Michio.

Another physicist who doesn't get that much time on television, but whose lectures are often fascinating to listen to is MIT's Walter Lewin

From the article, it states National Geographic will produce the episodes for Fox. IMO, NatGeo channel consistently puts out the best documentaries, and documentaries along with sports is about all I watch. Although it seems like the science channel is getting a little better, but nowhere near what they should be IMO.

Nat geo does put out some quality programming. Reminds me of the Hitler channel before it went "All aliens, all the time!"
