Caring for leather

I have some recently acquired leather pieces and I don't quite know the proper way to care for them. Currently the coat is hanging in my closet and the boots are in their box. This is my renaissance festival costume, so neither will be seeing much use. I don't remember what the shopkeeps told me about caring for them. The folks who sold me the coat said to use Armor All and the folks who sold me the boots said not to. It's the same leather for both pieces. I remember the boot people said something about saddle soap. Do I get this at Kmart or what? Is there anything else I need to do to clean them?

Cliffs:
1. Can I use Armor All leather wipes on leather?
2. Teach me how to clean leather.
3. What can I do to protect leather long-term?

I would avoid armor all at all costs.

To clean use a solution of woolite and warm water.

Then get a nice leather conditioner that won't leave a residue (like armor all). You want something that soaks into the fabric, not create an oil slick.
