Caribou hunt a success!!

Gravity

We drove 32 hours from Michigan and began our hunt at 10 a.m. By noon we had seen over 1,000 boo's and by dark we had our limit, two each. I hauled these two out of the woods, prolly about 400 lbs total, dressed.

Here's the linky: Caribouage

My grandfather took me Caribou hunting when I was a teenager. It was an awesome sight to see those animals move across the frozen landscape.

Congratulations... you killed a defenseless animal with a high powered rifle, from over 100 yards away. It's not hunting unless you use a knife!

Nice...that's a helluva lot of meat. Are you getting it mounted?

I wanted it to be mounted since I doubt I'll ever do it again. However, there's a ban on skulls because of a CJ disease threat. We had to cut the heads off and then the horns off the heads and remove all brain tissue. Nasty business that!!

True dat! The natives used to jump on their backs as they were crossing lakes and rivers and then just as the animal was getting on the shore, cut their throats. They died on the shore where they were food for their sled dogs.

Booo! dummy thats what hunting is killing another animal. The animal is known as prey the predator (human in this case) uses whatever resources help him kill his prey in the most efficient manner. If the animal weren't defenseless then that would be called war not hunting.

Nice catch even though I don't like hunting myself. Only time I find hunting respectable is when the hunters use a bow and arrow. Now thats a challenge and at least gives the animal some respect and chance. Even though most of them are teched up the wazoooo! I just don't see the challenge with a rifle.

That must've been disgusting having to take out their brains though. :/

You are not hunting, you are harvesting...

Use a knife or spear!

'gravity shot a reindeer'
Sung to the tune of santa got run over by a reindeer 🙂
Nice job!!
So with the ban on ungulates are you having any trouble getting parts back?
I guess as long as the paperwork is done its not too tough.
funny same guys who cry rifle shooting isn't hunting are usually the same ones beatching about quick and painless death
Which is what a rifle does. dispatches the animal quicker and ethically as possible compared to other methods.
What rig did you take up? backup rifle?

Hell, use a stick for all I care... 😀 BTW, it was mainly a joke... I have deer hunted many times and killed an 8 point buck when I was 14. I just wanna see someone actually go deer hunting with a knife....

I'm thinkin that the deer will usually win that battle. Those horns are sharp and the hooves deadly!!

Don't be so sensitive edro , JHonNy seemed to have a problem with rifles too.
I wasn't singling you out. Every year a few hunters die cause they don't finish em off and get killed by a hoof or horn.
Almost happened to somebody I was with good thing somebody else ran up and finished him off!!
Shot all his pills and was digging one out from his chest pocket when 10 yards away the deer stood up and challenged him.
Now no matter how dead I think it is it always gets a nudge from my loaded rifle.
