Caribbean cruise recommendations?

Me, and a few guys are lookin to do a cruise trip at the end of the summer (short notice, yea).

- What are some good ones for the "younger" crowd around the age of 21? We don't want a boatload full of old people.
- We're from NJ, so a cruise out of a NYC port would be cool, and prob cheaper than also having to fly down to Florida.
- Something like a 4-7 day trip in the Caribbean
- Needs to be affordable, < $900?

A friend of mine found a deal for $740 for a Norwegian cruise line one from NYC->Bermuda->Nassau for 6 days. The only bad part I see is that we'd have to spend alot of time at sea.

do carnival. check that everyone is over 21 because there are some guidelines that cruiselines have in regards to ages of travelers.
get an inside cabin if you plan on just using it to sleep and shower... get it midship if you are worried about the motion of the ocean. really learn about the ship that you might consider sailing on as the cheaper deals may sound great but they are usually on OLD ships... that will make a difference.
if you do do Carnival, you will get to experience Holland Americas Private island.. Half Moon Cay which is alone worth the trip!

yeah, actually I was just looking too, maybe by the time I want to go on that ship it'll be sailing out of NYC. Do you know what year they plan to bring it here?

here as in NYC? i am not sure, but most all of RCCL's caribbean cruises sail out of FLA.
As much as i am all about smaller ships, Freedom of the Seas looks VERY impressive, the only problem is that there are SOOOO many people it is insane.
edit: i lied... there are a few that sail out of texas and PR... but the PR is for southern carib cruises.

The Radiance of the Sea's was a fine cruise, it wasn't horribly crowded, granted the Freedom of the Seas is so much bigger.

holy cow... that is totally a different class ship! radiance of the seas was only ~90,000 gross tons.

We sailed on the mariner which is about ~138,000 gt and that was a floating city (and all of new york was on our cruise, or so it seemed!)

Freedom OTS is ~160,000 gt!!! :Q that is huge!

I'm curius to know what this thing looks like in person, it looks like a floating mall in one part of the ship, not sure though.

Whatever you do, don't choose Princess. When my ex and I went on that cruise, it was ALL old people. Not that they weren't nice, but on a trip like that, you enjoy hanging out with people your age.

I also found out she was cheating on me during that cruise. What a ****** trip that turned out to be. Damn women.

Sea days are not for everyone, but there's plenty to do. The cruise your friend found is actually a seven day cruise - Leave NYC, day at sea, King's Wharf, Bermuda, day at sea, Great Stirrup Cay (our private island) - leaving at 1600, arriving at Nassau Bahamas by 2000 overnighting there and leaving Nassau at 1200 Thursday, day at sea Friday and back to NYC around 0900 AM on Saturday. It's not a cruise for the itinerary for sure but for the ship. You should give it a try. 🙂

Very funny. 😛 The original Love Boat was a Princess ship. That cruise line is owned by Carnival now.

This can happen on ANY line - it really depends on the time of the year you cruise.
