Carfax vs. other car history services

Recently i was looking (and dreaming) while shopping ebay motors. i found a car that I just had to have ... but didn't buy (crap!). Ebay give you an option of using their "built-in" Experian-based service called Autocheck. I purchased 10 checks and promptly received a report on the car I was drooling over. it came out clean.

meanwhile, a friend of mine asked me for an Autocheck on a Lexus he is interested in. I complied and again, the car is clean. On a whim he checked carfax and it (as a way to get you to spend the $$$ for the report) informed him that the VIN report had 6 issues (vice 0 on the Autocheck). My question is how different can they be? Anyone out there have a Carfax account that can run a check for him? if so, the VIN is JTJBT20X760117136.

Please let me know via PM or email. thanks ...

Carfax has everything. Vehicle built is one record, vehicle shipped to dealer is another record, vehicle registered to first owner is a record, etc. Others probably only report negative records like accident damage? I dunno.

carfax tells you every single event that happens with your car. each one of those counts as an issue. it could have been an oil change or something.
