Hi,
I didn't know anywhere else to put this so I decided this would be the best group to post in.

I am currently a Grade 12 Student in Toronto, Canada. I am very interested in pursuing a career in networking, but want to learn more about the field. I would be very interested if anyone who is a succesful employee in the networking field or even a sucessful person in a computer field (I like to keep my mind open).

Anything would be helpful, such as what you do, what you went through to get your current job, a suggested rate of pay within your field (please don't if you feel uncomfortable to), and your way of life. Even words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Shezan Chagani

Hi,

One more thing, I would also like to emphasize anyone who is in the Geographical Information System field, as I am very interested in this field but am very uneducated with the lifestyle and average pay with respect to Computer Networking (i know a little but not enough to make a decision). If you are in the GIS field as well, please discuss your thoughts, answering the same questions I asked for Networking. Thanks a BUNCH!

Sincerely,

A clueless student, Shezan Chagani

Well after i finished highschool i went to a university and studied Computer Science, while i was there i did about 6 good internships and now i work at Microsoft writing next generation network protocols. I think the most important thing you can do is get internships in college, dont waste your summer working at burger king or star bucks, employers look at the internships as sure bets. good luck

....

i just realized by networking yo u might have ment like setting up networks or administrating them, i dont know anything about that stuff (I.e what certs to get etc.) you might want to ask Viper GTS that.
