CAREER in Pharmaceutical Sales ??? Do you do it or know... ?????

Are you in Pharmaceutical Sales or know someone that is? I am thinking about applying to a job like this, yes I am desperate as the only little things I have heard are not good and I hate LAMM sales. I can sale the piss out of something if I believe in it. But I am smart enough to do my research and if I found out it was not good or was just bad, I would really suck.

So whats the truth? Pro, Con???

I know a person that does it and she makes some serious bank. An easy 6 figures - that's huge out here in the midwest.

 
and I hope you have a nice selection of mini-skirts and nice big................goals.

I work at a hospital, and it seems like those are the common traits of the drug reps that I see. Not that it is a bad sight though! 😀

she makes good money here in the midwest because she is a she. also those six figures that you talk about probably have a good correlation to some other "figures"

I'm not going to deny that it helps to be attractive. She looks good and is even better at talking.

No mini-skirts, but I do have a big set of balls, does that count? 😛

The job listing list very little travle or only in general region which is fine by me.

So what is the job detail, etc... Just hate to be something I would hate, but making money is good by me 🙂
 
I know a couple. If you do well and have the right mindset, then you can do quite well at it. I'm not the "salesman" type person, so I wouldn't like it or do well with it.

OK, do you go doctor to doctor? And what do you sale? As you can?t sell drugs can you? I would think you would have to go through a Pharmacia?

But I agree about the not like selling stuff. I could sell the piss out of a Corvette dealership, or anything else I know about and believe in. So I am juts trying to understand how it really works and what happens. Basically a day in day out type even log of what the job is REALLY about and does.
 
You don't have to be female, but you do need to be good looking and know how to present yourself.

It's not like other sales jobs, like selling washing machines at Best Buy or cars at a dealership. These people do not hawk products like that or use pressure tactics. Actually, I don't think they sell anything. Basically they go around and make presentations to doctors about new drugs, and give them free samples for them to distribute to their patients. They also throw parties for the doctors, which are incentives for them to come and hear about the new products.
 
Sorry buster they aint gonna hire you b/c you have neither a vagina or boobs. Also I have heard from several friends that were in the industry that got out b/c it is a dieing field.
 
Actually, my GF works as a contract rep for Bristol Meyers Squib and she never has to spend the night away from home. She's given a company car and free reign of the car for personal use.

She basically goes from doctor to doctor and try to provide info and answer questions about the drugs she is pushing. The doctors provide signatures (and hopefully increased sales of that particular) from which her bonus is determined.

Yea but boith win. Teh doctor now has that drug in memory, and the rep gets to say they gave out stuff to a willing doctor.

I migth apply, but I am kinda uneasy.
