College career fair tomorrow form 9am-4pm. Where all the major companies come on one day to look for possible canidates for internships, co-ops and post-grad careers. I have my Resume and cover letter (customized cover letter for each corporation I plan to give my resume to :) ). I'm a sophmore, but i have a good year and a half of skills to offer

What should I wear?
I have a suitcoat that fits me, but the matching black pants are about 4 inches too long. I have tan kahkis. would these work with a black suitcoat and maybe a while/blue dress shirt underneith? Tie?

What should I bring?
Resume and cover letters a must. anything else? Portfolio? etc...

What should I look like?
Never been to one of these so I don't knwo what to expect or if there is an order to visiting each of these sponsers... head held high?

Thanks guys

from what i hear, most carreer fairs are worthless until you're a senior year. At RIT, they wont even look at you unless you're a senior, or at best junior, or have had a ton of experience somehow.

I also heard that. In fact, most of the positions available are only for junior or seniors. But would it be smart to at last put my resume in? Or should I just mail it to the head offices and skip the fair?

Resumes for critiquing if you feel like it:

Most serious people wear a suit. If you don't have that, just wear the best you have.
Good luck.

it's actually the official title. DMO. but i had to spell it out on account most people don't know what a DMO is. Yes, I'm ashamed of it, but I need the money

Don't need to have 'references' if they want them they will ask. IMHO I would print my resume on decent weight paper.

If you go, just wear your khakis, dress shirt and tie.

All you do is walk around, be confident and people will either talk to you or you can go up to them. Easy.

If you don't have a suit or matching sports jacket and slacks just wear a shirt tie and slacks.

bring a bunch of resumes printed on cheap paper and about 6 printed on good paper.

Bring a big bag for the freebees. You'll have to trade your resume printed on cheap paper for a freebee. Doesn't matter if you don;t like the company, you're just there to get the goods.

shirt and tie and khakis should be enough for a career fair. just make sure to be confident and talk with their reps. you should also followup with them afterwards, to try to make yourself stand out from everyone else. put your gpa on you resume if its decent. ( > 3.0) and you can remove the references available upon request part.
