Career choices

Recently, I was contacted by an interactive marketing company about a position. I go in to talk to the team and find out they are about to embark on a big data project and building a team. This is really exciting as traditionally I've developed using one our two commercial database platforms over the last 15 years. Basically, my career is based around the choices of Microsoft and how they position themselves in the BI market.

Here is the rub, I will have to take a pay cut, but the company has been successful and they appears to have a strong future. Anyone else work with big data? Is this a path worth giving up a little money to get a lot of experience?

Equity the company? No.

Anyways, I accepted the job as the vacation, benefits and experience are great. They start you off with 18 vacation days, 6 sick and 16 company holidays, 6% match on 401k and awesome medical. I will make a ton of money back on just benefits and more time off than I can take. Crazy part is that they didn't require any type of background check.
