i like aristocrats even though they are harder to come by. but they have a good weight and feel to them. bicycle is popular but i dont like how they tend to stick and for some reason i have trouble scaling with them. bee's arent bad and i havent had a lot of experience with tally-ho's.

in a poker game though i much prefer the plastic than paper cards, too much risk of cards sticking or hiding underneath each other and causing a frustrating misdeal.
 
I wanted to reply with "Bicycle" when I saw the title, but it seems like everyone else beat me to similar jokes.

Me, I like all cards.

I'm very difficult to beat at hearts and spades. But, recently, I've been on a Canasta spree. There is just something appealing about taking an easy to master game and being pitted against 3 random foes/partners (who may or may not have a clue of what they are doing). Clearly, if everyone knew the game well, they'd be too simple. But if you get stuck with a crappy partner, it is damn fun overcoming that handicap.

I'll play bridge and the other games which are 100% table talk. But I just don't enjoy them as much since it is just masked table talk and not a real game.

my grandparents started teaching me pinochle when i was 6 or 7. i love playing, but the only time i can is when i'm with my family. no one my age (23) knows how to play, that is if they've even heard of the game before.

also, why double deck?
 
Nobody plays Euchre? Maybe it's a Canadian thing....

Or nobody could spell euchre, if that's how it's spelled.

Euchre is fun for an hour, but it really just gets boring after that. It just gets so routine after a short amount of time. I like games with more staying power.

I learned how to play it long ago, when I was young and in Canada, but I've long since forgotten.

it can be very frustrating if you get dealt a bad hand... just like any card game. its also frustrating playing with a partner that has no clue and too many beers in him.

and i like spades, its my fave game.
