Card Reader Question

I have a USB Card reader and its kinda old, i also have a PCI USB2.0 card cause my mobo is only USB 1.1, if i plug the card reader into the PCI card will i get USB 2 speeds? or just 1.1 do i need a USB 2.0 card reader?


also i have an older USB hub, simple little thing cost like 10$ will it run at USB 2 if i plut it into the PCI card also or will it just be 1.1? i have a ton of USB devices and woudl like them all to run at 2.0 instead of 1.1

You need a USB 2.0 reader.

Nope. If they're 1.1 they will run at 1.1 regardless of what you plug them in to.

If the device is only USB 1.1 (including your hub) it will only run as USB 1.1

what do USB 2.0 Hubs and Card Readers go for now adays?

I got an ASUS 6in1 USB2 reader from Newegg for like $22.
