Card Reader Question

I have a USb Card reader and its kinda old, i also have a PCI USB2.0 card cause my mobo is only USB 1.1, if i plug the card reader into the PCI card will i get USB 2 speeds? or just 1.1 do i need a USB 2.0 card reader?

also i have an older USB hub, simple little thing cost like 10$ will it run at USb 2 if i plut it into the PCI card also or will it just be 1.1? i have a tone of USB devices and woudl like them all to run at @.0 instead of 1.1

You need a USB 2 rated reader. BTW - don't mess with just a reader - get a reader/writer. USB 1.1 devices cannot run at 2.0 speed. With some, like keyboards and mice, it matters not. They are fast enough as is.

i dont need to write to it and i dont need a damn 6in1 thing, these are all i see, i just need a simple CF reader the is USB 2 so i can dl the pics from my D70 at a fast speed

Even if you have a USB 2.0 card reader connected to a USB 2.0 pci card, the compact flash card will probably restrict the speed that the data can be read. CF cards, especially older models, aren't all that fast.

You can try plugging your card reader into your usb 2.0 pci card, and if it's faster, great, but I don't think you will notice much or any difference.

Also, aren't cf readers capable of reading and writing? I've never heard of a read-only cf card reader...
