I just purchased an Inland 8310 USB 2.0 Multi card reader and
downloaded the latest drivers . Following the the instuctions on the
driver set-up , it tells me taht since have XP (or ME) that no dirve
installation is necessary . However when I plug it into the USB port
or my Tobisha A45-S121 laptop it still asks me to install a a driver
..and of course it is not recognized it "my computer" . In device
manager properities to message ins "no driver installed . I am very
confused here . BTW, I bought another brand of card reader
(MediaGear 7in4) and got similar results . I need some help on how to
deal with this - Thanks

Check in the BIOS and make sure Plug and Play isn't initialized plus that you have USB on...

It is indeed correct that "mass storage" devices like card readers do not need an add-on driver. Windows has its own generic driver for these, which SHOULD be working (and usually is).
