I have a card reader installed on a desktop that I am working on, and I didn't pay attention when I was swapping out motherboards and now I am not sure where this thing plugs into. I am not sure the make/model of the reader, I just know that it has a yellow 4 pin connection on it.

The motherboard is a MSI G31TM-P21 if that matters. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo

I THINK it plugs into the 4 pin side of one of the front USB connections...but I am not 100% positive. Thank you all in advance :)

It might be useful also to ID the card reader so a user guide can be accessed on the OEM's website. Normally, an internal reader connects to an internal USB header on the mobo.

Old motherboard was an ECS 960GX-M...like socket 939 if memory serves correctly. I am guessing that for lack of anywhere else to plug it into, that it goes onto the 4 pin side of a USB header.

Sounds right, but make sure you test it out before turning it over. I burned up a digital camera, and 2 MP3 players by not hooking up the front header right. The odd thing was USB drives worked fine o_O Sometime I'm gonna sit down, and look at the pin out to see how that could be, but as of now, I'm chalking it up to magic :^D

As long as the older board wasn't an OEM version with some proprietary connectors, it should've had standard USB header pin-outs. So yes, it goes plugged into one half or side of the nine pin USB header. Red wire typically goes to Pin 1 (VCC1_+5V) or Pin 2 (VCC2_+5V). e.g.

Okay...the computer is up and running, and the card reader WORKS with it plugged into the 4 pin half of the USB. As usual, I thank you all for the help
