Carbonite online backup: sometimes restarts huge files

Doppel

I'm now at the tail end of an initial backup with Carbonite. I have some multi-gig files. The largest is 12 gigs and I left it until the end to back up. However, tonight I confirmed that Carbonite is doing something strange with large files, and I noticed this on other large ones. Specifically, it will sometimes have to restart the entire file.

I've noticed that if I lose internet connectivity briefly a large file will resume. But tonight I shut my laptop down and when I started it back up this huge file (with my slow speed it's a solid day to upload it at least) went from 68% back to 0%, all the previous gigs uploaded vanished.

This isn't a huge problem in practice, but has anybody else noticed it? When I google carbonite large files of course all threads simply indicate that a 4gb+ file has to be manually backed up and has no relevance to the restarting of files mid-transer.
