you can get rid of cancer with the click of the 'Mute' button hahaha. the TIM and HS would be just like having a HUGE IHS because it would be able to transfer heat so well. would be AMAZING!!!!

Carbon nanotubes are one of the new "buzzwords" that gets thrown around alot. They obviously have some INCREDIBLE properties, at least on the microscopic scale, whether or not that will translate into revolutionary commercial products is of course yet to be known.

Chuck Norris cools his computer using Carbon nanotube TIM....He's been doing it for years...

Chuck Norris cries carbon nanotubes.

my research actually deals with growing carbon nanotubes for field emission devices :)
I hope it works, my degree depends on it :)

The toughest task is high-rate nanotube manufacturing. Its easy to make a prototype device. Making it in a way that is sustainable on the manufacturing line is what most groups are facing right now.

Be produced on a manufacturing scale?

To be truthful though, the only reason I came in here was because the title reminded me of this.

That was the same problem with fiber optic cable in the early 80's. Let's hope the technology with carbon nanotubes can even come close to that rate of advancement.

-FED-TV
-Body Armor
-Thermal Interface Material (can't wait for the CNT heatsink)
- Paper battery
- Darkest material yet
- Space elevator perhaps?
- NRAM
What have I missed?

I can see my children being aghast at the fact that dad had to live before the carbon nanotube

Everyones next generation R&D has unlimited theoretical potential... but until the products hit the shelves... im skeptical.

2-ply toilet paper came after sliced bread.
And sliced bread sucks. Lots of things are better.

I know, but there seems like an unusually large variety of potential for the CNT

Why do you hate sliced bread so much? Did someone beat you with it when you were young?

Pre-sliced bread is drier, stales more quickly, and obviously precludes variety of prepartion. Given a time machine I would assure the abomination was never invented by whatever means necessary and if only the world knew I would be hailed as a hero of the ages.

It's too bad that 90% of CNT applications are not expected much before 2010 (but most applications more like 2015 for actual products and uses). I don't want to wait for that long to find out if they are as amazing as they are claimed to be.
