Ahh, but you absolutely cannot get maximum performance out of a completely stock vehicle unless the entire weight of the vehicle has been reduced by .05% with such a modification.

And painting it would be a no-no since it won't scream "look at the money I spent on my carbon-covered fiberglass hood!"

Cool. Good thing you're not paying for someone's decisions with their personal property.

What do you drive?

Oh, you mean when people install them on their own cars my eyes somehow automatically closes and my brain does a reformat?

I was tempted to replace my hood with a cabon fibre one after my wreck (02 Protege5) when I realised it was cheaper for me to buy the carbon hood then get a used hood and have it painted.
I ended up getting the normal hood since I was selling the car and the carbon hood would not have helped.

Carbon fiber hoods are cool. You can probably drop 20-25 lbs with one and they look bad ass IMO. If your serious about going fast weight kills.

I own a chevy pickup no carbon fiber parts.

I went a carshow once and there was this bmw with a body made entirely of carbon fiber. It wasn't painted or anything. I bet it was light as shit.

Since we're talking about garage stuffs. You guys should check out http://www.cheapmotorcycledeals.com/ if you're in the dc area looking for a cheap bike. I saw some guy post it on dcsportbikes.net. I need monies man..

Fact is many of those stupid parts aren't even real CF and actually weigh MORE than their OEM counterparts.

Yeah they do. I never understood why people trick out their street cars anyway. Mine goes as fast as I ever want it to right now.

I like the look of CF, however, it's being over done. One of these days CF is going to replace more and more metal on cars.. hopefully painted.

IF, and that's a big if, I ever got a carbon fiber hood for my vehicle, it'd be painted to match.

MOST of the shit people do to their cars nowadays is unnecessary and ugly. But if it makes them feel good, let them. A lot of that overpriced useless shit is american made and helps to keep our economy from completely going to hell.
