I try to turn the car on (when u hold the key in ON position till car starts and u let go) and the car just studders and nothing happens. The turning sound of the starter or something (crank? the whiney sound right B4 the engine turns on) never actually starts because it seems as if im turning the car ON and OFF every 0.5seconds. It seems as if the car tries to start every .5 seconds or so and is using alot of electricity since all the lights dim/off in rhytm.

Short version:
No start
No crank
Tries crank every .5 sec?
lights dim in rhytm (.5 sec)

I dunno much about cars so if you need more info just say so. thx

Edit: Ive also tried to jump start the car but that didnt help. thx for reminding me BannedTroll

does the starter make a clik clik sound? if so it's a flat battery, if the engine turns over, could be many different problems, probably related to fuel system.

the alternator won't prevent the car from starting unless the battery is completly flat, so hard to diagnose this problem, check ya leads and coil

Its as if im pushing the key to the #3 position then releasing it back to #2 and then turning it back to #3 then releasing back to #2 etc every .5 seconds.

does the engine turn over at all? if it does then it has nothing to do with your battery, could be fuel or ignition.

I guess i was wrong. what is engine turning over?

STEP 1: turn key
STEP 2: whiney sound (clank clank)
STEP 3: VROOM (engine on?)
STEP 4: release key

Im having a problem going INTO STEP 2, im not IN step 2 yet i dont hear a sound, Im trying to get into STEP 2 every .5 seconds or so it seems.

In absence of or purpose of a pic, perhaps a wav file would be best???

Sounds like your starter is bad from your description. If it tries to crank, that is, and it doesn't successfully. If it was the battery, you'd be able to jump start it and you wouldn't get much in terms of sounds (no studdering).

Concur, those usually go hand in hand for some reason. I'v ehad an alternator die about a week after my battery died. Talk about a crappy week.

Also, what is the weather like right now? Cold as sh1t?

Do all the dash lights sorta flash? Two old cars of mine did that when the battery was too low to start the car.
