Hey guys, I have an 08 Saturn Aura XE V6 and the wheel was damaged along with tire and tire sensor when i got a flat. The Chevy dealers said replacement for the whole set would run me $470 but I was hoping anyone knew of some good online resources that I could get all three for cheaper. I was targeting around $300, is that realistic? I quick google search showed places like buycarwheels.com that had wheels for as low as $120 shipped, but I don't know their reputation or quality.

The wheel looks like it's bent in on one side and the Chevy dealer said they could not fix it, only replace it. I don't want to take them at their word, and will also be looking for shops that maybe able to fix the wheel. I don't really care about the tire sensor.

Any advice would be helpful. I'm in the North Virigina/DC Area if that makes a difference.

thanks for your help

Good that you included all of the info about your car

It's likely that your wheel cannot be repaired, cast aluminum (I'm betting your OE wheel is cast) does not like to be bent, then re-bent. Straightening the wheel may substantially weaken the wheel if it is not broken outright.

Because Saturn is KIA you can't get a single replacement wheel I take it?

New wheels from Tire Rack will run you about $100/wheel + shipping, which is fairly normal. You could try going used, but that usually takes a while to hunt down exactly what you want.

You may have to bite the bullet and buy new... but you may have luck selling off your OE wheels to other Saturn owners who want just 1 OE replacement to recoup your costs.

$100/ Wheel is an acceptable price for me, what is the reason I couldn't replace just one wheel? Does it damage the car long term?

Doesn't damage the car if its the proper size. My guess for not being able to replace the one wheel would be they don't make/sell them anymore.. thus the need for an entire new set unless you don't mind the mismatched look.

Mismatched look doesn't bother me. Aren't they all a standard size based on what Tire Rack is recommending?

Rock Auto has reconditioned Aura XE wheels for $135. Don't know if they are the same.

um... if i'm reading this right. You broke/bent/damaged ONE wheel, tire and Tire sensor.

Dealership wants to you to replace all wheels?

50/50 shot on the tire sensor being damaged. You had a flat and drove on it i assume, your on the lip of the rim, the sensor shouldn't be damaged but if it is, check ebay for a working sensor. But you dont care about that, the light will be on and it might blink/beep to annoy you but thats it.

Could you show up a picture of your rim? check ebay normally OE wheels sell for $150-300 pending on how rare/popular. i've bought from a place similiar to the link buycarwheels.com, what they do is buy damaged wheels and retouch/refinish and straight out the wheel. They could be bent before but they fix it up to look new again.

Dealership quoted me $470 to replace just the one wheel. They didn't recommend replacing all wheels. I would like to replace one wheel and the tire rack price + instillation at my local shop for a wheel/tire/sensor will run me about $300 which I can deal with.

Now, I just want to make sure I'm ordering the right stuff. I'll take a picture and post it tonight.

the tire rack wheels are not the OEM wheels. OEM wheels will almost always be a bit more expensive than an aftermarket wheel -> save for volks, HRS, CCW, etc

search ebay for your make and model and you might find a used wheel. otherwise, the Rockauto option would be your best bet for a matching wheel

I should also add that the dealership was going to replace the tire with a non standard goodyear, so I'm guessing no OEM parts are available.

Even looking at some of the OE options available, it looks like the OEs come in a variety of sizes for the model and year of the car so I'm going to figure out what i have.

Contact an aftermarket company like keystone or use Car-parts.com they recondition OEM wheels to look like new for much less money about the 140 area and they will take your old wheel as a core. then it would be just putting a new senor and tire on the recon'd wheel and your good as new with 4 OEM wheels
