I feel your pain. Had my old Neon stolen from my carport... on father's day 🙁
It's well maintained, has 95K miles, and it's paid off.
damn, what a sweet ride
Swallow a cue ball and choke, asshole.Lol, I'm laughing so hard I'm in tears.
That car wasn't stolen, it was towed. God, I'd even be embarrassed to tow it....because it would be attached to the vehicle I was driving.
Can you imagine going to prison for grand theft auto....and when the other guys ask you...so what car did you steal....and you tell them an 88 Camry station wagon? AHHHHAAAA.....oh, priceless!
Shit cars are really really fun to drive. Taking a corner going 30 in a 1992 Ford Tempo sounds like you're going 100mph and are about to die (because you are about to die). Why on Earth would someone steal that? Was it a crime of opportunity? ie: Doors unlocked, keys in the ignition? lol..
Are you sure it wasn't towed?
Those used to compete with taurus wagons. I sometimes see an old camry wagon now... I never see a taurus ever..their engines probably fell out years ago...
Wouldn't you home insurance cover theft?
I had my truck stolen once.
I stopped at a bar to have a beer many years ago on a Canadian military base. It was January so I let the engine running to keep the truck warm. I thought I was safe on the base. WRONG!!!
The police found the truck undamaged in the next town the next day and it only cost me a tow truck. I was lucky.
That seems like it'd be a decent car, especially with as few miles as you had on it..
This is for sale, PM me.I got home yesterday to find my 1988 white camry stationwagon gone from my apt uncovered spot. Apt manager knows nothing about it (and I believe her). I already called CHP and reported it stolen. It was insured only for liability, so I don't think I'm getting anything from the insurance company.
Car thieves suck!!!!!
88 seemingly in good shape with low miles it really is not a bad car. With no rust (if it had none) and pristine (accounting for age of course) interior you'd probably get $2k for it around here since nobody can have cars that old up here, all rusted!
C'mon...the car is nearly as old as I am.
In all seriousness, I did theft recovery in a previous job. In these situations, the car is usually used in the commission of other crimes, joyrides, etc. Some even steal cars as precursors to a home robbery at a later time or for identity theft, as people often leave garage door openers, extra keys, personal documents, etc. inside the car.
And here is the thing with old cars. You may have sentimental value in the car, but the truth is for insurance purposes, resale, whatever, it isn't worth anything. Most people here post on computers that have lost more in depreciation in the last 6 months than that car is worth. I do find his choice of car amusing...I don't own a car, we have demo cars that I drive for work, so I don't have that emotional attachment towards any particular vehicle.
Tru dat. Some piece of shit teenager ran a stop sign and hit my last car. Even though it was covered by insurance, I still lost several thousand dollars because of it. All teens should be killed. It's not what the book value of the vehicle is worth, it's the cost of finding another vehicle that's as reliable. I've owned plenty of old cars that looked pretty ugly at times but I made sure they had all the mechanical maintenance they needed to stay reliable. It would have cost me multiple times more than they were worth to find a car that was as reliable.
renters insurance/homeowners insurance should cover somethign like this... assuming you had the foresight to actually get some.
