Car stereo

I want to install a 1/8 mini-jack in my car's stereo system as an auxilliary input, so I can play MP3s from a carputer/laptop/MP3 player. Right now I have an aftermarket (Pioneer) CD head unit, no external amp. Is it easy/possible to do this? I'm good with electricity, but I've never messed around with anything on a car before. Is it possible to just patch in the signal somewhere? Do I need to amplify it? Is a new head unit with an aux-in jack the way to go? Please advise.

Also, if anyone knows of any good car stereo forums that aren't full of jackasses, please link me. If you link me to a forum that is full of jackasses, I'll hate you forever.

On my aftermarket head unit I just needed this special part called an "IP Bus Controller" and then I was able to just switch to my Auxillary mode on my headunit.. my headunit is the DEH-P740MP

Did your headunit already have an aux-in jack?
