Car stereo speaker help

Hi!

I installed a new receiver in my car and just noticed that when using the FADE control option, my REAR and FRONT speakers are the other way around.

The car doesn't sound that good either.

Could it be just because of the mix-up?

Yep, sounds like front & rear leads are mixed up & if it doesn't sound good, the polarity on the speakers may be wrong.

Did you use a harness adapter or splice the new receiver into the wiring?
 
Yeah, certainly a wiring mix up - watch those colors, since sometimes the colors on the car's harness might not match the universal colors from the reciever.
 
Also, some stereos differ in their front/rear outputs. My old Mazda6 had a very flat signal on the front speakers, but was quite different on the rear signal (confirmed by some online research and just listening). When I hooked my subwoofer up, I spliced into the rear speaker wires and it yielded almost no bass, but changing to the front speakers made all the difference in the world.

But yeah, you definitely have them wired wrong.
