Car Stereo Q's

looking to replace my 6x9's in the civic. just got 2 rockford stage 1's and need new 6x9's. im lookin mainly for some with great hi's and no bass because my old car only had 5and1/4's in the back and it sounded great but now with the 6x9's its sounds like too much bass coming out form those speakers. im going out on a limb here but do they actually make 6x9's w/ min bass output?

thnx

6x9s and great sound are almost oxymorons.

Get an adaptor, get yourself a 5.25" with a tweeter. You can dremel it out and put it all in yourself -- it's not that hard. And the wiring is the same anyway.

Ok... I don't know much about car audio.

In what ways are 6x9s bad?

do tell.

in my case they are not bad, just looking for good hi's out of the rear and no bass from the component speakers like youd get out of 6x9 speakers. looking into component systems w/tweeters now. anyone know what the crossovers that come with a component system are for?

why rears? what year civic? if you want good sound you need a good stereo soundstage. components in the front matter much more then the speakers in the back. you don't want to hear speakers firing at ur freakin feet.. or strangely overemphasised sound coming from behind ur head.

02 civic lx 2dr. found these
for the 5 1/4 speakers for the back. lookin into putting some 1in tweeters in the front doors.

EDIT: i found out what the crossovers are for 😛

6x9's are usually suited more for bass. I agree with others......get adapter plates and 5.25 components. Then again, these ARE going for rear fill (I assume) so don't worry a ton about how great they sound.

i like minimal bass. i listen to rock/metal/hard rock so mid/highs are the mainstay with me and some bass mixed in ftw. 🙂

I have the OEM add-on sub in my car (6") and its plenty for me now. I had a 12" in my last car and it kinda overpowered everything.
