Car Stereo Noise Filter?

V00DOO

Diamond Member
I just installed a 200 Watts amp onto my car stereo and when even I step on the gas I hear this Heis noise coming from the speaker. Can anyone recommend a noise filter that can eliminate the noise.

You need to redo your grounds and/or wires. Make sure there is a good, solid connection on all the wires. If this still doesn't work, you need to get an isolator type of device for the power cable; I think crutchfield sells these.

check your ground location, you could be getting a ground loop.

or it could be the amp, try the amp in a different car, or try a new ground.

or it could be alt. whine.

but i dont have much experience in the problem of noises from speakers

damn techno kid beat me to it.

Sounds like alternator whine. Make sure wire connections are tight as said before, but make sure you don't run your signal wires (if you ran RCA patch cables) are not running parallel to the power cable. That will induce noise.

Actually, it wont unless you use completely crap wire.
Check wiring. Make sure everything is of appropriate size, and well connected.

I know nothing, I just pretend to...... Makes me look smart

it could be that you ran the power and rca wires down the same side of your car. If thats not it check your ground. If that isnt the answer then it could be anything from bad plugs to a bad distributer cap. Start with the simple stuff

ahh...just worked as a car audio manager for michigan's largest car audio dealer for 3 years....nothing serious

In my old car, I ran the power wire down one side of the car and the speaker and rca wires down the other side to eliminate alt whine.

As others have said, you need to ground it better. Thats why if you dont know what you are doing its better to have it done right at your local car audio place.

God forbid we know something more than just computers........
