car stalling question

Hi, I got a question for you car guru's...
I have a 2000 Maxima GXE, and starting last week, when I coast to a stop (either in neutral or in gear w/my foot all the way down on the clutch), the rpm drops too low and the car stalls. That's the only time it does this. Anyone know whats wrong? I don't really feel like paying the dealer $100 and wasting 5 hrs just to see what's wrong...

Crowded, slow moving traffic = stall (for me anyway).

As I learn to drive on a manual, I am practically garuanteed to stall when I hit slow-moving traffic, w/ a lot of stop and go. RRRRRRG.

*In case any of y'all are wondering in regard to my "drift" problem, I've gotten that mostly under control now.

I've been driving stick for 6-7 years now, and this only started happening last week. I know it's not me, but something makes the rpm keep going down until it stalls.

Not sure.. but last time that happens to my car, it was a fuel injection problem. The symptom you just describe is almost identical to mine in every way.

IAC

Go to pep boys and have them pull the codes. they do it for free IIRC.

How much did it cost to fix?

Yeah I have the "Service Engine Soon" light, but 2k maxima's are notorious for having this, and the code says "faulty cat" but my cats are fine.

Dude, just pull the codes yourself if you have CEL on. Directions are on forums.maxima.org

Why would you want to smack them? It's not your car

yeah

Probably o2 sensors, I believe that car has 3, very expensive, ~$120.00 each. Do like someone said, go to Pep Boys/Autozone and have them pull the codes, not simply by counting MIL flashes. You'll be chasing your tail until you do.

My wife's 96 i30 flashed "Bad EGT sensor" (Exhaust gas temp), but showed bad o2 codes when hooked up at the dealer.
