Alright I just bought the Pioneer DEH7600MP headunit, but found one of my rear 4" speakers (stock) was a bit blown (I had an idea it was before the install). So now I have the option of putting in a couple nice Alpine 6"x9" speakers my dad has lying around. Problem of course is fitting... do they sell speaker boxes for custom installs (ourselves) ?

Or do you think going with new (good quality) 4" speakers in the back will serve me just as well ? Basically, does size really matter that much ?
 
Yes they sell fittings for installing different sized speakers. Though you may be looking at some fairly large modifications to fit thoes speakers in.

High quality 4" speakers would put out a decent amount of sound.
 
Going on just the 4" alone, i would install components, but that is me. If you dont have components in the front then get something to match the quality of your front speakers. If you have "decent" front speakers then i would suggest Infinity Kappa 42.5i. Or the cheaper reference from infinity.
 
Why not go with separates in the front doors? 6.5" woofers and tweeters? It will produce some great sounds up in the listening area where you are sitting.

Where do they sell fittings for 6x9s to fit in a 4" hole? You would have to do some cutting of some sort, or have a car audio place do it for you.

Getting kick panels with *good* components in the front will eliminate the need for rear fill. Good components require an amp just for the speakers though.

I have 4" pioneers in my jeep on the overhead sound bar, if you have any bass at all going to them they will "fart" horrible.They are great for high end and some mids. Go with a component system.

Right obviously he would need to cut to make the fitting larger. Car audio places around me sell all sorts of brackets to mount speakers, typically for fitting smaller speakers in a larger hole.
 
I don't want to pay anymore than I have to at this point so it's between getting < $50 speakers for the rear 4" slots or getting a couple 6"x9" boxes we can mount ourselves. Is there any way 4" regular speakers could give me a comparable sound to 6"x9" when mounted in the rear ? Obviously one requires more work than the other... is it worth it ?

comparible with highs but not with mid bass. If you want to put 6x9's in the back then I suggest cutting the 4in holes to fit the 6x9's. If you dont want to do that then just buy some 4in replacements.

'95 Rodeo... and no way dude, my baby rocks. The only thing I've had to replace was the starter in its near-10 year existence. It's survived harsh Buffalo winters with no faults. Aside from a few battle scars, the thing looks good as new. I don't know why you think it's a POS. (Pic in sig)... the stock stereo was a POS. 😉 Oh BTW, Isuzu = makers of the best 4WD systems around.
 
A) Put in 4" speakers. 6x9s will give you a little more punch, but not so much that you would want to cut stuff up, especially when you're only running them with the head unit.

B) Don't get Infinitis. JBL, Polk, and Fosgate all make fairly cheap but good speakers. Infinitis are so worthless... I'm not going to rant, just don't do it. Utter waste of money.

C) Don't get Infinitis. Man, they're so worthless.

Have you heard the JBL GTO426's ( the low end 4" coax's)? The JBL Power P452's are decent but for $150 you could do a helluva lot better, yes the Kappa 42.5i's i mentioned do sound better.

As for the polks......Where the hell do you see 4" coax polks for sale?

As for fosgates over infinitys..... Well i think that he can read for himself what people in the know think about those P(s)OS.

To the OP, do yourself a favor and do some reading on these forums.

My friend had a 95 Rodeo too and that was solid,
This made him purchase a 2000 Rodeo.
the 2000 Rodeo was the biggest POS ever.
