Car speakers: best place to buy, and how to install?

I am in need of some basic, cheap rear car stereo speakers. I have an older car that now has a blown out / dead left rear speaker. I want to just replace the two back ones.

I just want very basic speakers just to get sound out. I also want to make sure they will fit my housing/car. Where is the best place to buy speakers, and ensure they are the correct fit?

Also, is just switching out rear speakers any bit difficult?

Thanks!

I like looking stuff up. Plus I bought my head unit off of Amazon which was $200 cheaper and then just bought the wiring harness from crutchfield. They even sent installation instructions with it.

crutchfield is way overpriced, but you pay for support and warranties if you need that.

I'll second this. They typically charge MSRP (no discounts) but, wow, if you are not on top of your game, their support really can come through. I have installed about 3 car stereos in the past twenty years (i.e. I have next to no experience). When I had to go through a tortuous installation of a stereo in a 1995 F150 that had a prior custom installation which was totally kludgy, they walked me through all of the wiring over the phone. Really really excellent.

But if you have more of a clue than I do, comparison shop.

If you are a total noob I suggest Crutchfield for support alone. Sometimes they do have ok sales too (once in a while).
