Car roll over

Oops! lol

This just happened here. Looks like the car hit the pole guy wire and rolled. Going to take a wild guess here and say it was texting and driving. 😛

The pole placement on this highway is kinda bad in general. They're too close to the road. Sometimes large vehicles hit them because they hit a pot hole (there are plenty of those everywhere) which makes the vehicle tilt towards the pole then it hits it.

One time I saw a bus mirror lodged right into a pole, was kind of funny actually. The whole mirror just got ripped off and stayed there.

Either way I'm just glad it did not take out or fibre. I'm not really in the mood for a busy night shift. 😛

Poles are usually on the right of way. They probably assumed a 10m RoW was more than enough for a one lane road, assuming no one would be be crazy enough to move there, especially not enough people to necessitate a two lane road. Well, never underestimate human insanity, and here you are. Two 4m lanes, and poles on the edge of road...

Might have been a patch of black ice. But those poles and trees win the war with the car just about every time.

Things are always messy around here as the snow melts. They use a shit ton of salt and sand on the highway (yes that's the main drag). That was taken at like 1-2am so hence hardly no traffic. We don't have any huge "400 series" style highways here, and for that I am thankful, because FTS. 😛

They appear to use more than a shit ton... look at the sidewalk - wow.

Yeah I think they may even put some on the sidewalks which would explain why all the ice and snow is gone. Everywhere else it's pure ice and there's still around 2 feet of snow left in yards etc. We've been getting this weird melt/freeze cycle going on and there's ice everywhere.

The issue with all this salt is it's really hard on vehicles.

404 - highway not found.
The interstate highway system was started by Eisenhower in 1956. Are you saying there were no highways before this? Funny, because I grew up next to Dixie highway in Michigan and it was a 5 lane road with parking on each side.

The designation of highway from wikipedia:
A highway is any public or private road or other public way on land. It is used for major roads, but also includes other public roads and public tracks: It is not an equivalent term to controlled-access highway, or a translation for autobahn, autoroute, etc.
