So I was trying to cross the Bay Bridge going into San Francisco. There was plenty of traffic (5:30pm)so it was stop and go all the way to the toll booth.
I got all the way up to the booth and stopped for the dude in front of me who's paying the toll. I look up at my rear view mirror, and see the guy behind me and his passenger looking down, i.e. NOT paying attention to his moving BMW which was rolling toward me at about 3mph. Of course he rams into my rear bumper.
So I jump out real quick (dude in front of me still paying), inpect the damage (none really, bumpers scratched to hell already), and the guy says "Did I do anything?"
I go "Well you frickin hit me!". But then I see the dude in front of me leaving the toll booth. So I gave the guy who hit me a condescending look and a wave of disgust, and decided to leave it at that. As I was getting back in my car I see him and his passenger laughing and giggling. WTF.
So I go through the toll booth, and have to wait at the metering lights. All the while I'm kinda thinking that I should get his license plate number anyways, just in case. I spot the BMW in my rear view changing lanes over to the left. I'm ahead by a few cars, so I head over to the far right lane so I can be slow (well, speed limit) and spot him passing me on the left. So I'm on the bridge, and I finally see him coming up in my mirrors. He's 2 lanes over. I change lanes to get in his adjacent lane. And I think he spots me cuz he zooms ahead while cutting left one more lane. As He's passing me, I change one more to again be in the lane next to his.
We're coming up on the island that connects the two sections of the Bay Bridge and there's an exit on the lefthand side of the road that lets you onto the island. And as I squint to see his rear license plate, he decides to try to take the exit. Yes I said TRY. He was going too fast and didn't brake enough. Instead of exiting the freeway he hits a wall squarely going probably 30-40mph. Holy crap.
I didn't have a cell phone or nothing so I couldn't call it in. So I just kept on driving, still shocked at what I saw.
Now, to clarify, I was NOT chasing him down. I was not driving recklessly in an attempt to get his plates. All I did was change two lanes over, all the while keeping with the flow of traffic. I dunno what the guy thought I was doing, but that james bond move he tried only got him a faceful of steering wheel. I hope he and his passenger didn't get hurt, but I can't say that I feel too sorry for them.
