I've been looking around for a new tie-rod for my '94 ford Probe.

Everyone is out of stock and has to order it except for Pep Boys. They have it in stock, and it's about $45. That's about the same price as everywhere else....

EXCEPT Checker auto. They can order one for $25!?!?!

What's the deal?? Anybody have a clue as to why Checker is 1/2 price??

yup they may also have a bunch in their warehouse. Power to folks who can shop around.

btw, when you replace any suspension parts, do it in pairs, you'll be sorry otherwise..

Find out exactly whom makes these. Ask for a brand name. If it's a new part made in China or some other thirld world country then don't buy it.

I thought a tie-rod was more steering than suspension. Am I wrong??

You're right, but what are the chances that only one tie-rod is damaged? Seems to me that it's unlikely for only one tie-rod to become damaged without any damage to the other tie-rod.

generally speaking, whenever one part is worn out (left/right) side, you should replace both, otherwise the new part will accelerate the failure of the remaining older part by inducing more stress upon the older part.

Why things like shocks, springs, brakes, tie rods, are done in pairs.
