Does it have normal power during acceleration? Does it seem normal with the A/C on vs. off?

No the acceleration has been really bad lately. It just feels worse now that it's overheating? It doesn't blow hot or cold air, just like lukewarm air blows out on both settings. Even on full blast the air barely is blowing out?
IDK?

Acceleration being bad could be timing belt off a tooth, which may also cause overheating. Of course, excess friction inside the engine (for whatever reason) could also cause this.

Beginning to sound like something causing the timing to be off. As mentioned previously, timing belt slipped or a sensor or even the computer that controls such things or a connection somewhere in between. Please follow up and let us know when resolved.

I had to replace my water pump and the belt that runs the water pump. So far no overheating! :) Runs great! I will be back if I have any issues! THANK YOU everyone for the suggestions! You guys helped tremendously! :awe:

That probably would have been the timing belt. Typically the water pump is replaced with the timing belt if the car has a decent amount of miles on it, since you have to take the whole thing apart anyway. You might as well replace the old parts in there while you have it all apart.

If it's fine at idle, most likely your fans are fine.

I'd look at the cooling system for clogs or a sticking partially shut thermostat. Cooling issues are easy to diagnose. I've worked at a dealership and I do all my own vehicle maintenance (even engine builds), so let me know if you need more help.
Hey I have a question I just replaced The radiator. The fans turn on also replaced thermostats... checked it to make sure it fluid where flowing they are . still yet gets hot when driving and cools at idling its on a 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5 l

I have a 2004 Mazda Tribute, 6 Cyl, Sister Car to Meagan's and had the same exact issue.
Only overheats if you step on the gas. Stop at a light, back to normal. A/C has no effect. Turning the heat on has no effect.

After many friends threw all their knowledge at this issue which resembles everything everyone says on this site and the web about overheating, here is what the issue was for me:
The anti-freeze overflow reservoir has 3 chambers at the bottom. In order for the reservoir to be at the full mark, it needs to be at the third chamber furthest from the radiator. The chamber with the arrows is the full mark. If you only see anti-freeze is in the first chamber, you need to add anti-freeze. This type of reservoir fools you into thinking that you have plenty of anti-freeze because when you turn the engine off, it spits some into the first chamber. But in reality, you don't have enough and that's all it was. I added anti-freeze up to the full mark and then checked it with each stop I made (allowing it to cool over an hour and then very very slowly releasing the pressure so the cap wouldn't explode in my face.) This cap seems to hold pressure for a very long time and if you open it slowly, it will start to hiss the pressure out safely (very slowly please.) With a closed radiator system like this, you really don't know how much anti-freeze to add until it sucks it in from the overflow each time and then returns the same amount when your engine is cold.

I hope this helps someone.
