Car negative battery cable

I am trying to install a new car stereo. Many people suggested that i should take off the negative battery cable before i do the connection.
ANyone know where is this cable located? It is on the battery itself?

Yes, it's on the battery. If you don't want to take the battery cable off you can just pull the fuse that the radio is on, and then be sure to leave the ignition off. That should kill any power to the stereo.
 
I'm guessing that if you don't know WHERE the Neg battery cable is, you shouldn't be installing your stereo with out supervision!
