I don't know who the manufacturer is but on a few occasions I've seen motorhomes with the model name of "Intruder"

Hahaha how ironic. Campers being the 'Intruders' in nature.

<< Hahahah... I agree. Daewoo Nubira. It strikes up an image of power, finesse, and handling prowess. Seriously though, there are people and companies being paid millions to come up with names for cars, burgers, even corperations. I want that job. >>

I think that years ago the Japanese purposely tried to use bland, nondescript names (Corolla, Corona, Cressida) and stay away from names like Tahoe, Sebring, Monte Carlo, Cherokee and Phoenix.
The Korean manufacturers seem to be doing the same today.

It's three cylinders.

I still vote for Mercedes Kompressor.

Dude, it's not the model name, it's just like saying "Turbo" along with Porsche 911

Dodge Omni

Ford Aspire doesn't make me especially angry, but does make me laugh. It's barely a car....as in "aspiring" to be a real car.

Now don't go knocking my works fleet cars. Well, those and Tercels.

My first car was Chevy Citation =)

I mean c'mon, who in their right mind will name a car "Citation". On the other hand, and this is a true story, I've got pulled over once for speeding. Cop let me go with warning, saying "you already have your citation". That was funny and sad at the same time =)

Ford Crown Victoria :disgust:

Mercury Grand Marquis :p

<< Japanese cars that use American names. Read: Sequoia, Santa Fe, Tacoma, etc. >>

Aren't those Native American names?

It's official name is: Mercedes-Benz SLK230 Kompressor

And
Kompressor is the only "name" visible on the back of the car (along with the Mercedes name).

Porsche has the good sense to have 911 and "tubbo" on the car instead of kompressor.

:)

What's the difference? It's German anyway.

<< Taking a revered name like Impala, Monte Carlo or Malibu and slapping it on some FWD, unibody, POS makes me want to PUKE! >>

You forgot Nova! I'm surprised they haven't made a POS FWD Chevelle...yet. Don't get me started on the Plymouth Duster (Sundance/Shadow) cars!

I guess when Ford comes out with electrics they will call them the 75GXP. You will truly be limited to a number of hours you can drive or be left high and dry! :)

Cheers!

First you say it's not a model name (wrong) . . . then you say . . .

<< What's the difference? It's German anyway. >>

Ok, let me translate it for you: Mercedes Compressor

Oh, goody . . . I paid 50K and I drive a Kompressor. :D

Like LAUST, I prefer the letter-number combos. However I like it when they mean something such as car type and engine size....

LS430 = luxury sedan with a 4.3L engine
SC300 = sports coupe with a 3.0L engine

However, I have absolutely nothing against an "L88" which means nothing in particular except tons of power in a rare package.

they use that engine in other models and those have the kompressor badging as well. it'd be like VW putting 1.8T on a model that only had that engine. big deal. its still the SLK230
