Why premium? I usually buy 89 gas.
The reason you'd need to run premium is, the chips bump up the timing to a point where anything less will spark knock. And that is a bad thing.
So for 20hp or less gain, you'll have to run premium, and it won't take long before you'll have spent more on the difference in gas price than the damn chip cost in the first place.
The chips are usually designed to work best in conjunction with other mods, like exhaust, intake, fuel delivery, and even internal mods, like camshafts.
