Car mileage city/highway labels are WAY TOO inflated.

My 6 is supposed to be 27 city 32 highway but that's far from reality.

I get about 400-420 miles on 15-16 gallons (18 tank capacity). That's barely making to 26-27 miles per gallon, considering 75% of my driving is on highway (live in suburbs)

I know the tests are done on absolute optimal conditions but I think they should be more realistic to the consumers. Similar consumer 'scams' like how companies describe HDs with 1000 bytes instead of 1024, monitor viewing size and the actual viewing size etc...

You're getting good mileage.

The mpg ratings have always been inflated and mostly inaccurate. So many factors come into play.

No, that's the EPA estimate. It has NOTHING to do with who manufactured your car, nor is it the fault of anyone other than the EPA. The EPA still uses their testing methodology from years ago when the speed limit on highways was 55 and when traffic was less congested.

You should research before complaining about the wrong people.

It is NOT a consumer scam one bit. It's how the EPA does their testing.

That doesen't sound unreasonable.

You said yourself, only 75% highway. That extra 25% city driving may seem insignificant, but it could significantly lower your average MPG.

If it was 100% highway and you were getting 26-27, you would have something to complain and possibly worry about. Otherwise, the city driving plus winder blend gasoline, plus being a little heavy with the foot and/or living in an area with a lot of hills EASILY makes up for the ~5mpg discrepancy. There are just too many variables.. 1-3MPG deviations are expected, so you're within limits.

My car has always been almost spot on. It says I should get about 26 on the highway and i get a little more then 25. I suppose if I slowed it down a bit I'd pass 26 (I cruise at 80 most of the time). Actually, it always has met or exceeded the EPA estimates.

About? Why don't you get exact mileage? Zero the trip counter and fill up the tank, then drive on the highway, then fill up again and divide the distance by the gas you put in. City mileage means nothing because it varies so much with conditions.

Maybe you should try the UK system :p
My dad's car has combined average of 43.5mpg, and he gets something like 46mpg IIRC, mostly "highway" driving.

If mpg is important, realise that the combined average is almost always going to be higher than you will actually get. You let yourself be fooled.

70-80. I get upto 430 miles if I drive like a grandma, usually 380-410

My maxima is rated at 21/27 and I'd have to say that that is not being optimistic at all. I've gotten 26 myself and i think that at 65 or 70 miles/hour with ac off for an entire tank I could probably get a bit more than 27.

Actually, the HD sizing scheme is incorrect OS-side, not harddrive manufacturer side. The drive manufacturers refer to the sizes with SI prefixes, kilo, mega, giga, etc. These are base 10 - which means that a kilobyte is 1000 bytes. NOT 1024 bytes. In the OS, what we call a kilobyte is REALLY a kibibyte, what we call a megabyte is really a mibibyte, what we call a gigabyte is really a gibibyte. These are abbreviated as kiB, miB, giB.

The PROPER units (base-2) that the OS's should be using for 1024 bytes is the kibibyte. Memory size should also be in the base-2 units, not base-10, but this isn't as severe because the OS manufacturers and hardware manufacturers both make the same mistake.

In the fall, I can get 400KM on a 60Litre tank. Now that winter is here, with car warming, wheel skidding, and more car warming I can only get 280-300KMs.

Make sure to check your tires and pressure is properly inflated. That can affect gas mileage as well.

the numbers are for driving very conservatively. very slow acceleration and "freeway" is 55 MPH, which means you're gonna get way worse when you're buzzing around at 80. also, they are for A/C off.

IIRC, 91 Accord 4 cylinders get more like 30 MPG highway according to the EPA. so you're actually under, too. i drive the wagon, i get about 26-28 MPG on all 80-90 MPH highway cruising, like on big trips. city driving or otherwise aggressive driving drops it to around 20 MPG or less.

I got 30 when the original motor was in it which was up until 3 months ago;)

Mine's rated for 15-20, and I've been hitting it dead on ever since I got my car. ('02 Dakota, 4.7+5 speed)
