hey, i was heading to work today, and when i was about a mile away i notice my car's ABS light was on. this was the first time it came out, and its a 96 accord ex. the light sometimes flicker, and at the same time, the radio would fade out for a split sec. appears like a electric short or something, but not sure. anyways should i worry about this? i know abs is suppose to be antilock break to help on rain road, but i live in socal. i did some google searches and it seems like many people are having this issue and would cost 1600 to fix. i not going to spend that much, unless i have to, which is why i am asking you guys. the trip from home to work seem normal, didnt notice anything bad with car except for the light at the end. should i be worry about going home today?

When the ABS Modulator went out on my cavalier the light stayed on for a while, went off, then would come back on occasionally. It got to the point, shortly after it started, where the light stayed on. You might want to have it checked out, just in case this is a problem that needs to be fixed now.

If it's just the ABS computer, then you only lose the anti-lock function of the brakes. You still have full use of the normal braking system, just no more anti-lock. Personally, I think that anti-lock is pretty useless but I seem to be in the minority.

yea. i dont like abs either. it hardly rains here, so ABS is not a big issue to have. i just want to double check that the ABS light is not related to regular brakes. is it possiable for me to find out if its the bad comp or do i have to take it to the shop? and when i said shop, can i take it to any shop or does it have to be the dealer?thanks, /me cross finger and hope my brakes work when i go home later:Q
