Car Insurance

How much does car insurance cost for a first-time teenage driver (17 years old)? My dad says that it'll cost him $1000 a month for the car I'm going to get, but I don't believe him. It can't possibly that much, could it?

Depends on the car, where you live and were you will be driving too (school/work/etc).

Sucks to be you. I paid $850 a year when I turned 16. Currently I'm paying about $650 or so and I'm 24.

My cousin (17) pays $300 a month for car insurance on his jeep. He fell asleep at the wheel and broke his last car beyond repair tho.

What is an Aston Martin?

I'm getting my uncle's used 2002 BMW Z4 convertible. He sold it to me for only $15,000

Your uncle is obviously ripping you off

just insurance?

it depends on variables like the car being insured, location, and the amount of coverage that you get.

at 23 with a clean record, I'm paying 1.5K / year for liability (the bare minimum you need to get on the road). my car is a pos, so I don't really care too much about it (ie: if it got stolen, I'd probably have a party to celebrate).

Roughly 2400 dollars for a year. When I get married in December, and add another person and another car, full coverage, my new premium will be around 1600 for a year. . . horsesh1t in my opinion. 20 yrs old, will be 21 when married, and I have not had any speeding violations, nor any traffic accidents on my record. Oh yeah, I'm a male, thats why! DUH!

About 800 a year when I was 16. When I first got my car it was 4 years old, and 4 years later I got a new Jeep. To insure just the Jeep was $5 less than to insure both! Since then I got an Accord and I think I'm around 1000-1400 a year for full coverage and all the other bells and whistles I got with it. The cow bell made it worth it. I miss not being able to pay it off once a year, it was so much cheaper than this every 6 months crap.

You're innocent until proven guilty here, with insurance.

16 year olds and 60 year olds pay the same rate, until they start getting tickets and smashing into things.

Not with any company I've ever dealt with.

you aren't canadian either eh?

In my area (north Texas), a 16 year old with that car would likely pay ~$450/mo. for a male, or $175/mo for a female. (assuming no prior wrecks/tickets)
